CLC Facility Task Force Updates

In 2008 CLC began exploring our physical space resulting in the creation of the Facility Task Force.

Facilities Task Force - March 2010 LIGHT Article

We are making progress on our building design!

Working together, the Facilities Task Force and Busch Architects prepared a Master Building Plan which was presented to the congregation at the February 21st Adult Forum. If you missed the Adult Forum you still have several options:

• You can view the information presented at CLC's website under the "News & Events" section,
• Take a moment to view the visuals prepared by Busch Architects on display at CLC, or
• Stop by the church office for a copy of the February 21st handouts.

A second Adult Forum, scheduled for March 14th, will be held to receive your feedback on the Master Plan. Additionally, you can contact any member of the Facilities Task Force or submit your comments in writing. Our goal is to provide all CLC members with complete information as we continue together on this exciting journey.

Here's more detail on how we developed the Master Plan.

With the four primary goals in mind from the Long Range Plan (improved-efficient Sunday School classrooms, improved space for hospitality/fellowship, expansion to the Narthex, and enclose courtyard area for additional space), we meet with Busch Architects numerous times in late 2009 and so far in 2010.

Using our four goals, Busch Architects prepared a needs assessment that tabulated the square footage of our current building areas and compared it to the areas we will likely need going into the future. This effort showed that some or our space is adequate but that we need to expand in other areas to meet our current and expected future needs.

Busch Architects then prepared concept sketches showing options on how we could expand. At our meetings, we reviewed and discussed several concepts and options for our Master Plan. After each meeting, Busch Architects took our comments and suggestions and further refined the concepts and options for the next meeting. Through this effort, the Master Plan emerged as presented on February 21st.

Next Steps:
After gathering input from the congregation and making any resulting revisions to the Master Plan, our next steps will be to meet with staff at the City of Lake Elmo and then seek City Council approval of our Master Plan.

If all goes well we anticipate that a Capital Campaign Committee would be formed to begin work in fall 2010 and that construction could start in spring 2011.
