My Re:FRESH Button
Often we take so many ingenious ideas for granted. For example, recently I googled “Define Refresh button” and discovered that, “The Refresh command (a.k.a. F5) is one of the fundamental navigation commands offered by Web browsers. Because of the way browsers receive and display data, the Refresh command is necessary at times to ensure that you aren't viewing an out-of-date version of a Web page”.
Can it really be just that easy? Like magic, you merely push a button on your computer and everything is brought up to date!
This had me thinking of the word refresh (transitive verb to make somebody feel more energetic, especially with rest, food, or drink) a little differently as I approach the New Year as the president elect of our church community as it embarks on refreshingly new surroundings.
We are coming to the close of a building project that tested our spontaneity and flexibility to gather under different circumstances. Soon we will be refreshed by welcoming education, fellowship, and meeting spaces. We have an opportunity to continue our mission to grow both spiritually and personally together in our relationship with Christ, with one another, and now those we invite and receive into our church home.
If I could install and instill a mental button regarding (Re:) my personal outlook at Christ Lutheran Church it would be broken down as such:
FAITH-continue deepening and practicing my belief in and devotion to God
RELATIONSHIP-meaningfully connect with new and reconnect with existing members
EVANGELISM-share the Gospel with my words and by my actions
SHARE- the “Three T’s”; time, talent and tithe
HOSPITALITY-extended honestly internally, and outside of my “comfort zone”
I hope you share in my enthusiasm at Christ Lutheran and discover your “Re:FRESH” button in 2013. Please join me at both the annual meeting on January 20th and the (TBD) celebration of our building project.

Congregation Votes “YES’ to Building ProjectAt the March 4th Congregational Meeting, the vote was 98% in favor of moving forward with the $1.64 mil. building project presented by the Facilities Task Force Team. Included in this vote was entering into a contract with the James Steele Construction Company and securing financing through the Lake Elmo Bank. The Facilities Task Force will continue to keep you informed of activities leading up to groundbreaking and progress during the construction phase. Thank you for your continued support as we move forward with this exciting improvement of the education and hospitality areas of our facilities.
